Sealed Emotions

By Kelsey Soto

It too shall pass.

The feelings of throbbing pain.

Eyes swelling up.

My throat choking.

Silence surrounds me.

I’ve drowned out the noise.

I refuse to speak to anyone.

I will not say a word.

If my mouth opens, I will not be able to compose myself.

I muster everything I can to keep it together,

If only to keep tears from flowing out.

I’m a tinted bottle.

You can’t see the color of the liquid within.

There is no more space inside,

Fill me further and I overflow.

My emotions remain.

The burdens of my life are sealed.

The bottle is set on a shelf,

Where everyone can see it,

But no one sees inside.
